Buying shavings one bale at a time from a shop makes sense for one horse or a small henhouse. When you have a yard with several stables, a farm or a breeding kennel, what you need is volume, a competitive price and shavings delivered to your door without having to collect them. That is where wood shavings by the pallet come in.
At Visecorsa we sell in small and large quantities. We make the shavings at our plant in Betanzos and supply farms and yards in Galicia, Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia and Portugal. There are three ways to receive them: wood shavings by the pallet, as a full load or in bulk. It is worth knowing which one suits you before you order.
Bales: the classic format
Our wood shavings are packed in heat-sealed bales of around 15 kg, compressed so they take up little space and protected from moisture by the film. The bales are shrink-wrapped on pallets, with 21 or 24 bales per pallet depending on the type and height of the lorry.
Each bale is a single handling unit. One person carries it to the stable, opens it and spreads it without machinery. As a guide, half a bale is used to refresh a horse stable (our guide to wood shavings for horses explains how to prepare the bed). And pallets can be stacked, so the stock takes up little room in the barn.
Option 1: wood shavings by the pallet, with a delivery company
This is the usual option for equestrian centres, veterinary clinics and dog breeders. The order travels with one of the delivery companies we work with, and the lorry has a tail lift. You do not have to unload anything: the driver leaves the pallets at the agreed spot.
All we need is access the lorry can use and a firm area to leave the pallets.
Option 2: a full load on an articulated lorry
For large consumers and events such as horse shows. An articulated lorry carries 33 pallets. A standard trailer has no tail lift, so the customer must have unloading equipment ready: a forklift or a tractor with pallet forks. We tell you the delivery day in advance so everything is ready.
With both options you can choose who transports the goods. Either you send your own lorry or a carrier you hire, or we take care of it: we ask the carriers we usually work with for a quote and pass on the price and service to you.
Option 3: in bulk, Galicia only
For cattle farms and other operations that use a lot and prefer not to handle bales, we deliver shavings and sawdust in bulk with our own walking-floor lorries. The walking floor unloads the product simply and cleanly, without tipping and without spilling it everywhere.
We only deliver bulk in Galicia. For other areas we would need to look at options case by case.
We do not sell in big bags. It is either bales on pallets or bulk.
Which option suits you
| Situation | Option |
|---|---|
| Yard, clinic or breeding kennel with regular consumption | Pallets with a delivery company |
| Large equestrian centre or distributor able to unload | Full load on an articulated lorry |
| Farm in Galicia with high consumption | Bulk with a walking-floor lorry |
| You want to keep stock and use it at your own pace | Pallets, as many as you need |
If you are not sure, tell us what animals you have, how many and where you are, and we will tell you which format works best.
How to store wood shavings by the pallet
Bales keep for months if stored under cover, on firm, dry ground, without removing the shrink-wrap until you start using the pallet. Many customers take several months’ supply in one delivery and use it up gradually.
Recurring orders: a phone call before each delivery
If your consumption is steady, we can set a quantity and a frequency. But we ask one thing: call us to confirm each order before we prepare it.
We have seen it all. Customers who call at very short notice to bring a delivery forward, and others who postpone it when we have almost finished loading. It is normal, especially in summer, when equestrian centres use less because of the heat. With a phone call we adjust the date and the shavings arrive when you need them, no earlier and no later.
